What were you thinking?
Those were pretty much the words on every Newcastle supporters lips today. Magpies Captain Jonjo Shelvey received his marching orders after stamping on Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli.
The brain-fade derailed Newcastle’s momentum and any chance of pulling off an upset against last years Premier League runner-ups.
While Spurs controlled the majority of the possession, they failed to create any real goal threats in the first half. Newcastle were playing the counter attack well, until Shelvey stamped on Alli right in front of the referee.
Not what you want when you’ve just been promoted to the Premier League.
