Trouble at Anfield, as the Coutinho transfer saga takes a new twist.

Word travelled out this morning that Phil Coutinho handed in an official transfer request, demonstrating his desire to head to FC Barcelona – who see him as the man ro replace Neymar.

However, that doesn't mean that Liverpool are keen to budge on their 'not-for-sale' position…

The club released the following statement:

"We wish to offer clarity as regards our position on a possible transfer of Philippe Coutinho.

The club’s definitive stance is that no offers for Philippe will be considered and he will remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes."

Sky Sports is stating that Coutinho sent the request via email to the club, and have a Coutinho family member stating that Phil is pushing for an "amicable solution".

But it doesn't really look like a 'solution' will be done at all.

Manager Jurgen Klopp backed this reality as well; “When FSG say something like this it is 100 per cent clear. You can read it and there is nothing else to say about it.”

Looks like Phil might join Diego Costa & Alexis Sanchez in the long line of Premier League superstars who want out of their club.
