Aaron Mooy has set a new Australian transfer record after Manchester City accepted a $16.7m offer from Huddersfield Town to keep on the services of the midfielder.

Since leaving Melbourne City a years ago, to sign with parent club Manchester City; Mooy was sent on loan to the Terriers, where he played an instrumental role in their promotion to the Premier League.

Mooy’s contributed 4 goals and 45 appearances last season, also playing in the Championship play-off final game against Reading. The transfer fee also sets a club record for Huddersfield, thus emphasising Mooy’s significance for the club.

It’s understood Mooy’s personal terms with the club will see him fetch close to $60,000AUD a week. Not bad at all…

Mooy is set for a big 12 months which will include this months Confederations Cup, the Premier League and likely the World Cup should Australia qualify.
