Old Trafford may be called the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ but Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has urged fans not to come to the theatre, but to come to play. Manchester United face rivals Liverpool in the derby this weekend.

United’s 2-0 victory over Hull City in the EFL Cup marked their ninth straight victory. Despite their stellar form, Mourinho has asked more of the players and fans against Liverpool this weekend.

It’s been almost a year since the last time United defeated Liverpool. Mourinho believes the players and fans will all need to do better to knock off their biggest Premier League rivals at Old Trafford.

“We are responsible for fans’ participation in the game,” Mourinho said.

“We have amazing fans, what I feel is Sunday is a special match for us – special match for the Man United fans. So my invitation is don’t come to the theatre, come to play, play with us.”
