Uruguayan striker Bruno Fornaroli has agreed to a three year contract extension at Melbourne City.

City will elevate the golden boot winner to marquee status for the upcoming 2016/17 A-League season. Fornaroli scored 25 goals in 27 matches last season, and is regarded as one of the most talented foreigners to step foot on Australian soil.

“I am really happy to be with this club. My first season was very enjoyable, but I want to stay here. Hopefully improve more and help the team be successful and achieve its potential,” Fornaroli said.

The 28 year old lauded City for their welcoming hospitality and culture, which contributed to his decision to stay.

Fornaroli has unfinished business, after they were sent home packing in the semi finals against Champions Adelaide United last season.

“It’s difficult to explain what I’m feeling at this moment but I’m very happy, of course, to re-sign three years with the club, and I have more opportunities to win the league, and for this reason, I’m happy,” said Fornaroli.

The contract extension will see the Uruguayan play out of Melbourne until 2019.
