CHELSEA FC TO PLAY PERTH GLORY
JULY 23 AT OPTUS STADIUM.
Great news for Western Australian football fans! I know you often feel like you get the short end of the stick when it comes to big game scheduling. This time Perth is the selected destination for Chelsea FC,
Newly built Optus Stadium is estimated to hold over 60,000 fans when the Premier League champions touch down in July.
Any appearance from a big overseas club like Chelsea is a benefit to the growth of Australian football.
Don’t expect to see all of their stars though. They will play Perth Glory eight days after the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Judging by previous meetings between European giants and Australian clubs, it’s unlikely many big names will be travelling.
That being said, so many youngsters have stamped their mark for their clubs when playing down under.
One notable performer was former Manchester City player Kelechi Iheanacho in 2015. He was only 19 at the time, and found the spotlight with a goal against A.S Roma in Melbourne.
🇦🇺 The Blues are heading to Perth this July!
