The spoils of opening day Champions League success has been bestowed on Europe’s super-clubs.
Manchester United stamped themselves at the top of Group A with a 3 – 0 victory over FC Basel. Lukaku, Rashford, and even old mate Mario Fellani got in on the scoring action. A dominant performance definitely won’t go unnoticed as the Red Devil’s return to the UCL for the first time in two-years.
In Barcelona, Leo Messi went ballistic on Gigi Buffon; scoring a brace and leading Barca to a 3 – 0 win over last years runner up, Juventus. Surprisingly Leo’s goal just on half-time marked his first ever goal against the veteran Italian keeper.
Pretty much everyone in Blue was scoring in London, as Chelsea recorded a 6 – 0 effort over FK Qarabag. The same can be said in Scotland where PSG did a job 5 – zip on Celtic, much to the discontent of the Scottish fans.
Roma and Atletico drew at nil all; whilst Bayern Munich also opened their campaign with a 3 – 0 win of their own.
No surprises for the first half of match day one. That’s good for the giants at least…
