British grime artist, Skepta, has teamed up with Nike to produce his own Air Max collaboration, the ‘Nike Air Max 97 SK’.
Inspired by his love for Air Max and Essaouira, a seaside town in Morocco; Skepta reflected how his ‘home away from home’ heavily influenced his design.
“I found Morocco, and it was perfect. Everything I wanted to feel about peace, I found it there,” Skepta confessed.
“When designing the Air Max 97 Sk, we took the colour palette of Morocco into consideration, but also the palette of the 1999 Air Tuned Max. That was the first shoe I ever saved up money to buy, so I wanted to bring its magic to the 97 — the magic that made me first love Air Max when I saw it as a child.”
“Air Max is museum-worthy. They’re worthy of standing next to other pieces of art. That’s why it’s more than just a shoe. And it’s always been that for me. When looking at this 97, I just wanted to feel the way I did when I was a child. And we got there. It’s perfect,” he wrote.
You can pick the Air Max 97 Sk from 2 September. Be quick.
