Snake or heartbreak?
🐍 💔
The football world is in shock after 18 year old Gianluigi Donnarumma turned down a € 4 million-a-year deal with AC Milan. Just like that, he’s turned his back on his boyhood club.
AC Milan CEO Marco Fassone confirmed the news in a statement yesterday.
“Raiola informed us that Donnarumma has made a definitive decision not to renew the contract with Milan.”
Who is Raiola you may ask? Mino Raiola is the world’s number one super agent, responsible for some of the worlds biggest transfers. You’d be an optimist to believe his intentions were for the greater good of his players’ footballing careers.
“We had made a strong proposal,” said Fassone.
“The player evaluated it and made some evaluations that were not just economic.”
“He told us that he does not wish to renew the contract and his time with Milan will therefore conclude by June 30, 2018.”
He is foreseen to be the second coming to Italy’s greatest ever goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. What wasn’t written in the prophecy, was Donnarumma to end his expected long term future with Milan. The tall shot-stopper has made 68 Serie A appearances and also four caps for Italy.
Fans are calling the youngster a snake, after he pledged his allegiance to Milan only days ago.
“Everyone knows that my wish is to stay at Milan,” said Donnarumma.
“I’m looking for a house in the city to live with my family.
“I’m calm, all the parties involved know the decision I’ve made. I’m very much tied to these colours.”
Although this transfer deal was orchestrated by Donnarumma’s agent Raiola, it hasn’t prevented backlash from Milan fans, and the football world.
And who is in the running for the world’s most expensive 18 year old goalkeeper?
You guessed it, Spanish giants Real Madrid!
More to come….
