Australian football to strive under new Channel 10 free to air deal

It’s took 12 seasons but we finally got there!

The A-League has finally confirmed its first significant free to air TV deal with Network Ten’s ‘One’ channel partnering with Fox Sports.

Fox Sports has provided exceptional A-League coverage over the years, significantly contributing to the popularity of football in Australia. Channel ten will broadcast Fox Sports’ Saturday night A-League match every round of the 2017-2018 season. They will also be broadcasting every finals match, and also Socceroos matches from next year. With Fox Sports paving the way, there’s no chance of another ABC 2 embarrassment.

“This is a win for football fans and an opportunity for us to showcase our game on a commercial network with a recent history of successfully covering major sport,” said Football Federation Australia chief executive David Gallop.

“We will take the biggest matches of the Hyundai A League – such as the Saturday night derbies – into every household in Australia live for the first time,” he added.

“It is part of the overall broadcast deal with Fox Sports and means that we will be working with them to drive interest and subscriptions to their ‘all games live’ coverage of the Hyundai A-League.
