[WATCH] Henrikh Mkhitaryan scores first Premier League goal to down Spurs

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has scored his first Premier League goal to give Manchester United a 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been criticised for leaving the Armenian out of the squad for two months. The Portuguese boss claimed the attacking midfielder needed time to adjust his body to the strenuous physical demands. Mourinho was right. The midfielder has been in stellar form this month, also scoring in the Europa League last week.

Mkhitaryan came off second best after a challenge from Spurs defender Danny Rose. Fortunately for United fans, Mkhitaryan’s ankle injury will only keep him out until boxing day. If Mourinho had overplayed the 27 year old, perhaps he would have been out for longer.

The win places United only three points behind Spurs, and six points behind neighbouring rivals Manchester City.
