Former English Premier League stars Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard are on their way out of the MLS.
The ex Chelsea captain announced his departure from New York FC, where he will see out his contract until the end of the year.
The 38 year old has scored 15 goals and four assists in 31 appearances for New York since signing in July 2015.
Rumours are circulating around the next destination for Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard. Despite the Reds sitting on top of the English Premier League table, a fairy-tale return for Gerrard looks unlikely. The midfielder scored five goals and 14 assists in 33 games for LA Galaxy.
A move to Newcastle United or Celtic could be on the cards, whilst the Hyundai A-League (Australia) are also keeping a close eye on Gerrard.
STARS FAREWELL MLS
As my time at NYCFC comes to an end I would like to thank so many people for the kindness and support that they have shown me over the last two years. My teammates have been a pleasure to play alongside. The amazing fans have given me incredible support and backing. All the people that work behind the scenes at NYCFC have made it so easy for me to work and settle here. I have very much enjoyed my time, and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to play for such a great club and in such an incredible city. I leave with many great memories as I embark on the next stage of my career and I’ll be making an announcement very soon. @nycfc
