Argentina has selected star forward Lionel Messi for their upcoming World Cup Qualifiers against Uruguay & Venezuela next month.

Newly appointed coach Edgardo Bauza successfully convinced Messi to come out of retirement, following his dispute with the Argentinian FA.

In an interview with La Nacion, Bauza explained how he managed to get the star to change his mind.

“I went [to speak to Messi] not to convince, I went to talk football,” Bauza told La Nacion.

“We were almost two hours talking about football and naturally it came out [from him] that he would be on the list.”

Bauza has selected a highly attacking squad, featuring big names Sergio Aguero, Ángel Di María and Erik Lamela.

Argentina currently sit in third place behind Ecuador and Uruguay in the WCQ group stage.
