Socceroos star Tom Rogic has extended his contract with Scottish giants Celtic FC.
The new deal will see the attacking midfielder play out at Celtic Park until 2019. Overcoming a plague of ankle and groin injuries, Rogic is coming off a breakthrough season. The 23 year old has scored 10 goals in 57 appearances, and has already caught the eye of new manager Brendan Rodgers.
THE TURF understands that multiple clubs including Arsenal, Valencia and Fiorentina were all chasing Rogic’s signature.
Rogic has the opportunity to shine on the big European stage if Celtic can defeat H. Be’er Sheva to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. The Australian international is also likely to take part in the Socceroos World Cup Qualifier against Iraq next month.
ROGIC SIGNS ON
“The manager’s had a say in me re-signing here and has played a big role in me deciding to stay here. You can tell he’s a top-class manager, said Rogic.
“I still feel that I have a lot to give and I know that. Under him, I can develop and progress and contribute to the team’s success.”
