Ranieri pens new Leicester deal and immediately places bid for Brazilian forward

Claudio Ranieri has signed a new four-year contract with English Premier League champions, Leicester City just days before the new Premier League season begins.

The Italian mastermind who led Leicester City through a magical season to win the league last year spoke of his excitement in the long-term prospects he has for the club.

“From the moment I talked to the owners about their vision for Leicester City, I knew it was something I wanted to be part of for a long time,” Ranieri told the Leicester City website.

Ranieri has also wasted no time in his search in recruiting a new forward, approaching Brazilian and Santos forward Gabriel Barbosa with an offer of £23 million.

19 year-old Barbosa is currently representing Brazil in the Olympic games and has previously made clear his intentions to head to Europe in the 2016-17 season. City, however, are hoping to get a quick response from the Brazilian of his intent to sign with the club before the Premier League kicks-off this weekend.

Barbosa is also said to be considering offers from Italian outfits, Juventus and inter Milan.
