England manager Roy Hodgson quits after England knocked out of Euros

Roy Hodgson has resigned as England manager after their shock 2-1 loss to Iceland and elimination from Euro 2016.

Only England could exit Europe twice in one week. Hodsgon announced the news to the media immediately after the match.

“I am sorry it will have to end this way but these things happen,” he said.

“I hope you will still be able to see an England team in a final of a major tournament soon.”

During Hodgson’s reign as England coach, England were eliminated by Italy in the Euro 2012 in the Quarter Finals. Two years later they displayed a horrific performance at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, exiting the tournament in the group stages without a win.

“Now is the time for somebody else to oversee this young, talented group.

“The players didn’t turn up tonight for their country.”
