Turkish captain Arda Turan was boo’d, whistled and jeered by his own fans against Spain in Nice last night.
Turkey’s best player is clearly out of form, and failed to create any impact against the current European Champions.
A section of Turkish supporters turned on their player, letting him know how they felt every time he received the ball.
The emotion must have become too much for Turan, as he decided to respond to the supporters during play.
Turkish manager spoke to the media after the game about the Turkish fans booing Turan.
“It was not good to see Arda boo’d by our fans. No coach no player would want to be in that situation. Arda is one of our important players, I think the expectations were very high but whatever happens this shouldn’t happen. Nobody deserves it.
Obviously the way they protested Arda created an impact on our team. When i was a player in my private life i never throw the towel or give up and today our national team threw the towel I didn’t like it.
Milli takım bugün iyi değildi ama beni tribünler çok daha fazla üzdü – çok yazık!@ArdaTuran abi, seninle gurur duyuyoruz ve hep arkandayız.
