Venezuela have remarkably defeated Uruguay 1-0 this morning, eliminating the group favorites from the Copa América Centenario.
After a 3-1 loss to Mexico, Uruguay had to produce a result against Venezuela but have crashed out in dramatic fashion.
What’s worse, is that their superstar striker Luis Suarez was left on the bench due to injury. Confusingly enough, Suarez was eligible to warm up and take a spot on the bench, but was ineligible to play. The Barcelona striker made his emotions clear in the second half, after Venezuela took a 1-0 lead.
Salomon Rondon scored the only goal of the match for the #77 world ranked side.
Uruguay’s front man Edinson Cavani is normally reliable in front of the sticks, but failed to convert a massive opportunity for La Celeste in the 90th minute.
Mexico and Venezuela both progress out of Group C to the round of 16.
