FRIDAY 01 APRIL 2016
The famous Champions League final between Liverpool and AC Milan in 2005 is regarded as one of the greatest comebacks in football history.
Liverpool somehow managed to comeback from three goals to nil, to win on penalties after extra time in Istanbul.
It’s a moment that haunts Brazilian legend Kaka in his sleep.
Both clubs were a dominant force in Europe, fielding an all star lineup that consisted the likes of Luis Garcia, Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso, Alessandro Nesta, Andriy Shevchenko, Paolo Maldini and many more.
Kaka has won a World Cup with Brasil, Serie A title with Milan and a La Liga title with Real Madrid, but the Ballon d’Or winner cannot erase the events of that fateful night.
In an interview with Radio Cope, Kaka said: “Honestly, years later I still can’t understand how we managed to lose that game. We had the best defenders in the world in that team.
"Our back four was Cafu, Jaap Stam, Alessandro Nesta and Paolo Maldini but we still let in three goals in six minutes. Something amazing happened that can’t be explained.
Liverpool goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek was the hero, saving
Shevchenko’s penalty which will live long in the hearts of reds fans.
