Liverpool win first European derby against Manchester Utd | MUNDIAL MORNINGS

FRIDAY 11 MARCH 2016

Liverpool ran rampant in their 2-0 home leg victory over their bitter rivals Manchester United in the Europa League this morning.

Nine shots on target to Manchester’s one really tells the story. The only negative for Jurgen Klopp’s men was that they didn’t score goals.

United had their back to the ropes for most of this game, and had no answer for Liverpool’s attacking prowess.

The Brazilian influence from Coutinho and Firminho in the midfield galvanized United’s players.

Even Adam Lallana was pulling absolute tekkers out of his backside!

WATCH: How about that…

Emre Can and Jordan Henderson cleaned up the midfield like an out of control vacuum cleaner, regaining possession 22 times between them.

Daniel Sturridge converted a penalty in the 20th minute, before in-form midfielder Firminho sealed the deal in the 73rd minute.

United were lucky not to lose by more, and can thank goalkeeper David De Gea after he made a number of crucial saves to keep them in the tie.

Man United manager Louis van Gaal may have won the last four previous meetings, but this one will hurt the most for United fans.

It’s the first time the two rivals were drawn together for a European fixture, and as usual it wasn’t short of controversy..

EMBARRASSING MOMENT FOR UNITED FANS

No matter how salty you are when on the losing end, you should never cross the line. A section of away fans did that at Anfield after chanting

“The Sun was right you murderers” in response to a “Fergie was right, ya fans are shite”

The chant was in reference to the 1989 Hillsborough tragedy in which 96 Liverpool fans died.

Credit to Liverpool’s home support for not retaliating and referring back with the United tragedy in Munich.

Both sets of fans were quick to condemn the the disgraceful actions of the chanting United fans.
