Congratulations to Tim Cahill. You are our number pick for The Turf20 of 2015.

Cahill is the most gifted Socceroo to ever play the game for Australia. Who could forget that famous day when Cahill won Australia their first World Cup game at the 2006 World Cup in Fritz-Walter-Stadion, Kaiserslautern. Time after time Super Timmy Cahill has stood up and won games off his own back for the Socceroos. He has had an illustrious career with Everton, before becoming a sensation in the MLS for New York Red Bulls following his recent signing with Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua.

The great man has done it all.

At 36 years old Cahill is not slowing down, he’s speeding up and loving his football more than ever. His impact in the 2015 Asian Cup this year was legendary, providing his own high-light reel of goals. He has scored nine goals this year and made it into the AFC Asian Cup dream team of 2015.

45 goals from 88 games with the Socceroos is a statistic that will continue to grow until Cahill hangs up the boots. The forward also scored a first half hat-trick for Bangladesh late last year in Australia’s recent World Cup Qualifier.

Tim is a physical player and works harder than anyone else on the pitch. People often don’t take notice of how hard he works to push forward and then push back to get behind the ball. His work rate is impeccable which often goes unnoticed due to the fact he finishes off most runs with a goal or an attacking threat.

Australia’s leading goal scorer has left his mark on all the clubs he has represented. His loyalty to his previous clubs is unheard of, in an age where players move more clubs more frequently than a migrating flock of birds in the springtime.

His impact since arriving at Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua is evident. Consistently scoring goals and even taking them to the Chinese FA Cup final. With age and experience, Timmy is still growing, scoring 11 goals from 28 games this season.

The Australian is not just a Socceroos superstar; he is an idol for young football fanatics all around the world. Cahill is a prime example of how you can reach the impossible, through hard work and determination.
