Theatre of dreams for Borough | MUNDIAL MORNINGS

THURSDAY 29 OCTOBER 2015

Middlesborough has progressed to the quarter finals of the
Carling Cup after defeating Manchester United on penalties.

The heroics came from goalkeeper Tomas Mejias, who saved
Wayne Rooney’s attempt, psyched Michael Carrick into missing, before finally
saving Ashley Youngs penalty.

The Borough fans were in full voice at Old Trafford, and
took part in a moving light display in the 10th minute.

The tribute was dedicated to the Teeside steel workers who
have lost their jobs due to the closure of the SSI steel plant in Redcar.

Middlesborough will next play Everton in the upcoming
Quarter Finals of the Carling Cup.

VICTORY THROUGH TO FINAL DESPITE HUME CITY HEROICS

Melbourne Victory has advanced to the final of the FFA Cup,
defeating Hume City FC 3-0.

The final score isn’t an accurate representation of how even
last night’s game really was. Hume played both halves with high intensity,
constantly playing a high pressure game which forced mistakes out of the A-League
Champions.

Victory was saved in the 41st minute, after Berisha
was awarded a penalty for being dragged down in the box.

Hume City’s early penalty appeal was waved away by the
referee which looked like a handball in the box.

The floodgates opened for Victory as the game drew to a
close, with two goals coming in the 89th and 90th minute
for                 Kostas Barbarouses and
Jason Geria scoring his first goal.

The Champions of the A-League will face Perth Glory in the
FFA Cup final.
