FRESH KICKS / NIKE FOOTBALL MAGISTAX DROPS

We all know that football never stops, and it’s no different in the boot business, so despite all the new releases we saw last week, we’ve been blessed with some fresh new colour-ways that will really make you salivate.

New Balance drop new Visaro & Furon blackout and whiteout

Is there anything sexier than a blackout boot release? For boot nerds like me, blackouts are the ultimate – sleek, clean and modest designs that let the football do the talking. The only thing that comes close is a whiteout, and fortunately for us, New Balance has come to the party bearing both gifts.

Applied to both their Visaro and Furon lines, the boots themselves remain consistent with previous releases, including the ‘FantomFit’ cage and the dimpled upper on both, meaning that players now don’t need to compromise on features to boast a minimalist, no-fuss look on the pitch.

All black except for a white N on either outer, the new drop boasts an old school, business-like approach, whilst the whiteout is a throwback to the pre-release prototypes worn by the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Samir Nasri and Alvaro Negredo back at the start of the 2014/15 season. Clean and striking, I’m sure I’m not alone in greedily wanting a pair of each colourway in my kitbag!

New NIKE FOOTBALL X Indoor Series

The Nike designers have been hard at work lately, not only producing new goodies for outdoor players, but also refreshing their FootballX line for the indoor, futsal and astro-turf footballers amongst us.

Ability aside, you will dominate the style stakes with the new MagistaX, MercurialX and HypervenomX on your feet, cutting through with these bold new colourways. The dynamic fit collar gives a hi-cut sneaker look as well, meaning that a pair of these wouldn’t look out of place as you kick back with your mates after the game.

The MagistaX headlines the striking new releases in a ‘Chilling Red/Bright Crimson’ palette, whilst the MercurialX shimmers in gold and black and the HypervenomX is uncharacteristically subtle in black, with touches of ‘Chilling Red’.

Nike release Lewandowski signature Hypervenom

Still on the Swoosh, and Nike have celebrated the scintillating recent form of Bayern Munich’s prolific Pole, by dropping Robert Lewandowski his own exclusive Hypervenom model.

In an aggressive red and black design, the Hypervenom’s flyknit upper is covered in tributes to Lewy’s heritage, including the Polish Eagle, his number 9 and crown logo, as well as the traditional Warsaw motto of “Semper Invicta”. Translating to “Always Invincible”, the marksman has seemed to live by the phrase of late, netting his famous five goals in nine minutes two weeks ago and then passing the 100 goal mark in the Bundesliga a few days later, becoming the quickest player to reach the milestone in just 168 appearances.

Adidas release Messi 10 / 10 Boots

Whilst I don’t want to get stuck into the GOAT debate here, if any player deserves his own boot silhouette, it’s surely that man Lionel Messi. Adidas obliged during their boot overhaul earlier this year and we’ve just been treated to a new limited edition model of the ‘Messi 15.1’. With only 100 pairs to be made, the man himself will take a pair, as will 10 young budding superstars selected from various leagues across the globe.

For the rest of us, that only leaves 89 pairs of the black boots, which are neatly finished in a glossy gold/deep red ‘MessiFRAME’ trim. However, those with bigger feet need not waste their time, as the remainder of boots will only be released in size 8.5. As the Argentinian superstar currently sits injured on the sidelines, it appears that he’s only left “big boots to fill” in a figurative sense…
