Football buzz in Australia has reached fever pitch, as three
of the world’s powerhouse clubs touched down this week in Melbourne.
AS Roma, Manchester City and Real Madrid will play a three
way face-off, in the International Champions Cup tournament.
The three matches held in Melbourne are expected to draw almost
90,000 fans each game.
The Victorian government estimates the tournament will rake
in 40 million US dollars into the economy, as thousands of tourists from
interstate and overseas make the long trip to Melbourne to view a footballing
spectacle of a lifetime.

AS Roma, is a Italian football club based in Rome. Roma are
three times Serie A champions and finished runners up this year behind

Real Madrid has established themselves as a footballing

Despite their dominance, arch rivals Barcelona FC managed to
drown out Real, leaving them without any silverware last season. New manager Rafael
Benitez will be taking the tournament seriously, determined to turn their
Footballing god Cristiano Ronaldo touched down in Melbourne early,
and has been a star attraction for football fan boys in Melbourne.
Cristiano has been spotted at various locations in Melbourne’s

Kings, and was even spotted getting a haircut on Collins Street.

Manchester City has become one of England’s powerhouse
football teams. City won the Premier league for the first time in 44 years in 2011
before winning it again in 2014. The club was purchased by Abu Dhabi United
Group in 2008 and has since become one of the wealthiest clubs in the world.
Manchester City has already landed in Australia and
commenced their pre-season training at the Gold Coast on Saturday. City has
only flown down nine of their regular starters, and will most likely play a
second string team against AS Roma.
David Silva and Joe Hart expected to join the group before
the first match.
