Could Germany fall to the Socceroos? — Inter. Match Day

Australia’s national team return to the international stage tomorrow morning, through a friendly with none other than the World Champions GERMANY.

Whilst on one hand, Australian Football supporters can lick their lips with the return of the Socceroos after an outstanding Asian Cup, the rest ponder at the momentous task that lies ahead for ‘roos in Kaiserslautern.

Germany enter with a full squad, minus the notable exclusion of keeper Manuel Neuer, who will sitting out the game on an injury concern. Gotze, Ozil and Reus will make-up the German offensive which will likely pressure the central midfielders, especially Jedinak and Milligan, forcing them to play deep to protect the goal.

The Socceroos are without talisman Tim Cahill, a huge loss but also an opportunity for Juric and a shuffle around the attacking line. Expect Tommy Oar to make an appearance and Leckie to also play a bit role in attack.

Postecogolu has promised some shuffling around and rightly so. The encounter is a perfect opportunity to blood players like Melbourne City’s Aaron Mooy, Chris Ikonomidis and Tarek Elrich against quality opposition.

Germany will enter as favourites to tomorrows clash, but don’t be surprised if the Socceroos come out blazing early. A review of their recent clashes would reveal a high intensity start to games before slowly burning out. The challenge will be to beat the Germans at their own game. Focusing on controlling the ball, pushing them high and frustrating them, opening gaps in the process.
